2014 Budget and Projects

BOCA has set a number of goals for the 2014, including

  • launch our new website

  • reactivate our committees

  • improve beach tunnels and coastal access

  • reduce traffic impacts from California Incline

  • add landscaping to traffic islands

  • improve lighting and safety

  • work closely with SMCCA,

  • Canyon School, and Rustic Canyon Park

  • expand membership and increase budget

A number of these projects involve costs:

  1. Website: pay for annual web hosting fees
  2. Tunnels: help pay for painting, improved lighting, maintenance
  3. Trash Receptacles: pay for refurbishing the wood slats and collecting trash
  4. Bus Benches: pay for refurbishing the wood slats
  5. New Landscaping in Traffic Islands: pay for plants, installation, and irrigation
  6. Traffic Calming and Improved Walkability: help pay for traffic calming and walkability measures such as speed bumps, bumpouts, and crosswalks, esp. in response to California Incline closure
  7. Lighting: help pay for improved lighting on the streets

At this point we do not know the specific costs of these measures, but have estimated we will need a $10,000 budget to accomplish our goals this year. The Membership Committee has therefore set $10,000 as its target for membership dues during our February / March membership campaign.

Once we know in March what our final fundraising tally is, we will allocate funds towards specific projects, and will post those here so our members can see how their dues are being spent.
