BOCA notified the Los Angeles Fire Department's brushfire hazard unit of the cardboard and debris on the hillside along Ocean Avenue Extension, around the staircase across from Mabery Road.

We heard back immediately from Inspector Kenneth Guardado, who said he would notify the abutting homeowners on Adelaide, who apparently have the responsibility for the keep the area clear. He reported that in past years, Brush Clearance Inspectors have had City-certified contractors clear the area "because of the slope of the hillside and the concerns for erosion if the hillside is not cleared in proper fashion."

He went on to say, "The hillside is so well irrigated by water runoff from the homes above I do not believe the area needs immediate attention. Our City Certified Contractors will not begin bidding on parcels such as this until April of this year.  Once the bidding process begins I will put the parcel out to bid and it will be cleared properly. "

BOCA will continue to pursue the matter to see if LAPD will clear out the encampments, debris, and cardboard.
